Prevention - Ages 4 - 12

There are numerous disorders easily recognizable in children.  Mild, Moderate or Severe Mental Retardation is usually quite obvious, another disorder that has received much attention is (ADD) Attention Deficit Disorder with or without hyperactivity.  There are, of course, a host of conduct disorders such as antisocial personality disorder, aggressive and non aggressive, anxiety disorders separation type. Although separation difficulty appears to be a problem fears about the real world are more often than not the issue. Avoidant disorders and overanxious disorders all fall in the category of infant, childhood or adolescent disorders. Stuttering, Sleepwalking, and Slap Terror disorders are also quite prevalent.  We are all acquainted with Infantile or Adolescent Autism.  All these and numerous more are disorders which may demonstrate themselves in early to adolescent childhood.

Naturally parents want to know what they can do to be of help. The answer is Seek Professional Help Early.  However, there are some self help things parents can do when they recognize fear, negative thinking, anger, and worry.
