Keeping Families Afloat

Families Come in Many Forms and Shapes

The traditional family is composed of a male and female figure with 1 or more siblings.  The structure may be autocratic, democratic or laissez-faire.  Research seems to indicate that of the 3 family styles, the democratic family may have the most desirable outcomes.  However, we live in a world where the traditional family is fading.  Over 50% of all marriages are terminated leaving single parent families, extended families, and in cases of abuse, children in foster families; and, of course, child care for the doubly employed family.

In fact, the family in the 21st century has taken on various shapes and forms of functioning not traditionally practiced in the past.  Our intention at the Foundation for Family Dynamics is to offer practical suggestions and workable solutions to individuals committed to good parenting in contemporary society and to assist in Keeping the Family Afloat.

We view the family as a boat, winding its way down the river of life trying to avoid whirlpools, rocks, ledges and  the shallow water. We know there are many kinds of boats, ski doos, cris Crafts, Battleships, PT boats, tug boats, and fire boats.  All have a purpose – and our purpose is to keep the various kinds of boats (families) afloat in contemporary society.
